Try and get at least 8 hours sleep each night to give your mind and body the time it needs to relax. By increasing the amount of time you spend sleeping, you decrease the chance of feeling irritable or angry during the day. Be vigilant by sleeping on time each night to keep your mood stable.
  • Exercise frequently: Decrease stress in your life by exercising frequently. Cardiovascular exercise such as jogging and running is ideal to give you the rush of endorphins that improve your mood. Feeling happy after a work-out helps to decrease the amount of time that you spend feeling stressed out.
  • Check emails sporadically: It can be tempting to check your emails throughout the day especially if you are waiting for messages. However, this heightens stress for many people especially if you own your own business or if you have a high impact job. Block out time where you check emails such as once in the morning and once at night.
  • Take regular breaks during the day: Short breaks of 10 minutes throughout the day can help you to feel more energized to do your job. This is because your brain needs time to comprehend the information it receives and small breaks achieves this for you.
  • Make a schedule: You don’t have to use a rigid timetable to organise your life but by making a schedule, you lessen the chance of stress creeping into your life. Include writing lists in your life to make it easier to manage what you do into bite-sized chunks.
  • Eat properly: The American Dietetic Association released a nutrition report in 2011 that found that respondents are eating more vegetables. This is a step in the right direction. The report from the ADA also found that 46% of respondents are eating more fish. The nutritional value of fish can help to decrease stress when included in a balanced diet.
  • Improve productivity: Whether you have a business or you are employed, your productivity levels should be increased without a huge surge in your workload. This is part of working smart to improve your quality of life.
