Skin Problems

Because you are outside much more often during warm weather, there are several dangerous skin problems that can arise without you even noticing. For those who love swimming in freshwater or saltwater, a condition known as cercarial dermatitis can occur. Also called swimmer’s itch, it’s caused by parasites called flatworms that attack the skin, causing little red bumps and lots of itching. To avoid getting this, wash off immediately after swimming. If it’s contracted, use cool compresses and over-the-counter medications to relive itching.

Swimming in chlorinated water can also dry out your skin and be damaging especially for the skin around your face, so be sure to use moisturizing lotions after swimming in chlorinated pools. Obviously, skin damage from the sun is a prevalent danger during the summer as well. Get used to wearing sunscreen every time you go out during the summer, even if you aren’t headed to the beach or the pool.

Eye Damage
