Go For a Hike

Instead of going to the gym to get your exercise, why not go outside instead? Going for a hike is one of the best ways to relax outside, as you will not only get some fresh air, but you will also get a bit of exercise. Of course, how much exercise depends on where you go. Going on a light walk around your block works for stretching your legs and clearing your mind.

Hiking up a hill or even a mountain can be reserved for days when you have a bit of extra energy. Not only will it make you feel accomplished when you finish the trail, but your legs might even be sore the next day. Don’t forget to bring your dog if you have one!

For quiet days when you need some sunshine, you can grab a book and head to the park. Bring a chair, pick a comfortable tree to lean against, or lay on a blanket and flip through the pages in bliss. If you don’t feel like reading, you can also bring a coloring book, journal, or even a lunch to have a picnic. Or visit your nearest beach and go surfing or body boarding!

If you want to spend more time outside, it helps to live in a place that allows you to get away. Depending on how much wilderness you need to recharge your nature batteries, different housing options will be better suited for you than others. If you need more trees and less concrete to feel unplugged, consider purchasing a mobile home out in the country.  

Bring Nature To You

While going outside is great for days when you feel like doing something, other days you simply don’t have the time or energy to leave your house. On those days, you don’t have to waive your desire for the outdoors, simply bring the outdoors to your home!

Perhaps the simplest hack to bringing the outdoors indoors is opening a window. It might seem small, but the burst of fresh air throughout your house will make it feel refreshed. If you don’t have as many windows as you would like, consider investing in a window wall so you can get as much fresh air and natural sunlight as possible. Make sure to also open all curtains and blinds to let in as much sunlight as possible. This way, you will feel relaxed and get some natural vitamin D on days you can’t leave the house.

Put Out a Birdfeeder

Nothing marks the beginning of spring more than the renewed and welcome sound of birds singing outside. Put bird feeders outside your windows to attract more birds to your house. This way, you can hear birds singing when you’re busy at home and you can also birdwatch when you have time.

Get Indoor Plants

Another way to bring nature into your house is to get indoor plants. Plants that don’t need too much sun are ideal plants to keep inside. These plants will liven up your space and provide fresh air. If you’re feeling up for a challenge, you can even grow herbs, berries, and small vegetables in your kitchen.
